Great America owner still talking to 49ers

Amusement park operator Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. said it continues to discuss selling its Great America property to the San Francisco 49ers, breathing new life into the team’s efforts to build a new stadium in Santa Clara.

Cedar Fair said Monday it “continues to discuss the potential sale of California’s Great America, in Santa Clara, California, with the San Francisco 49ers.”

United Football League inks TV deal

The UFL, a startup pro football league founded by San Francisco investment banker Bill Hambrecht, struck a deal with the television home of hockey, bull riding and cycling.

The United Football League said the Versus network will air live weekly games beginning Oct. 8 until the championship game scheduled Thanksgiving weekend.
